Itch+ Solutions

More information on Product

There are several forms of itchy skin on dogs ranging from very mild to severe. Obvious signs a dog has a skin problem is the constant and excessive scratching, licking and chewing. Other signs include skin sores, dandruff, redness and inflammation, balding and even odours.

There are several causes for itchy skin, including bacterial, yeast and fungal infections, as well fleas or mites causing such infections as Sarcoptic or Demodectic Mange. All these irritants cause your dog to scratch the areas and in turn inflame the tissues possibly causing lesions and hair loss, making the situation worse.

Bacterial skin infections in dogs are the result of the Staph bacteria (Staphylococci). While this bacterium usually lives harmlessly on the skin of the dog, if the dog's skin is cut or wounded, skin infections are caused. The staph infection in dogs is characterized by itchiness, crusted skin, pustules and small, raised lesions. For the health of your pet, it is important to address the area to prevent the irritation from continuing and help relieve your dog.
